ENDURANCE OF CARE

Care - An Act of Perseverance and Holding

The enduring power of care is to provide continuity and stability. Care asks us to hold what is vulnerable, bridging the gap between fleeting moments and long-term endurance.

In the conservation of complex and distressed buildings, a diary of place — an act of meticulous documentation — is itself an act of care.

In this context, the shape of that care needs to be formulated, requiring patience and a structure through which it can be sustained.

See INDEX & The Tone Works Archive for an exploration of the development and curation of extensive documentation through regular acts of care.
